My Activity Tracking

My target 150 kms

I'm challenging myself to walk,100km throughout October and raise vital funds that will help eradicate and prepare us for a Polio free world.

Polio is the world’s forgotten disease and something that should have been made history a long time ago. Polio is a crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease. There is no cure, but there are safe and effective vaccines. The strategy to eradicate polio is therefore based on preventing infection by immunizing every child until transmission stops and the world is polio-free.

That is why this October we are asking you to Walk With Us for those that can’t.

We are challenging you to walk, run or roll 10, 20, or 50km throughout the month and raise vital funds that will help eradicate and prepare us for a Polio free world. A polio-free world does not mean it’s over either. It requires updated vaccination policies, including the phased withdrawal of oral polio vaccines (OPV), appropriate containment of the poliovirus in facilities, the certification that polio has been eradicated, and planning for the transition of knowledge and infrastructure to serve other health goals.

In recent months we have all had to find new ways to stay fit and healthy. Rotary’s Walk With Us End Polio Walk is a fitness challenge that you can complete from October 1st to 31st to reach your target in a COVIDsafe way.

Be part of something special: Walk With Us this October for those that can’t. Be part of the end game strategy and raise funds to help make Polio history so that no child ever again suffers paralytic poliomyelitis.

Upping my Walking gaol and fundraising

Tuesday 5th Oct
The community has spoken and by already reaching my initial target of $1000 have decided that I will walk an extra 50 km this month taking my total to 150km in October. To match I have increased my fundraising target to $1500. Lets go.

Speeding along

Tuesday 5th Oct
A lovely 8km walk this morning dedicated to Paul Jennings my colleague at Ambulance Victoria. This takes me to 35 km so far this month. Not bad for 5 days. Picture is of a dam in Mahoneys Rd Woodend.

Great beginnings

Monday 4th Oct
Its day 4 in October and I've walked over 26km. Some nice weather including rain which is all lovely. Thanks to all my donors but as always I could use some more.

5 days to start walking

Monday 27th Sep
Thanks to all those who have donated and the amount is getting close to my $1000 target. If I get over I will walk another 50km making a total of 15okm for the month. I will also increase my fundraising target to $1500. So with 5 days to go your support is vital.

Make me walk further!!!

Monday 13th Sep
My current goal is 100km and $1000 donations. If you donate and I exceed my $1000 target I will add another 50km to my target.

WE are back again. Are you ready to be part of History and help Rotary rid the world of Polio.
